Congratulations on broadening your listening selections to include sung music, operetta, film scores and loads of new composers and performers. I was brought up in Europe on classical music, and your selections were becoming just a bit boring in their repetitiveness. Just how often can you hear the Harmonious Blacksmith with a thrill of recognition if you hear it twice week? ;-)
Just listening to Respighi's The Birds with pleasure and a sense of rediscovery.
A lot of the new works I am hearing are somewhat derivative, but there's nothing wrong with that, as far as I am concerned. The golden kernels will survive, like the Beatles, lol.
Bet you have more fun as well at your job!
Best regards,
Barbara in Monterey CA
