a friend told me about this station, America's first audience supported radio. They play a variety of music and have some podcast. Orientation is mainly left wing (not strange for a SF Bay based station) but not too pushy. https://kpfa.org/ has regular Grateful Dead shows but also other Bay Area bands.
The mission of this station, started in Pacifica in 1949 by reporter/poet Lewis Hill is to promote cultural diversity and pluralistic community expression, to contribute to a lasting understanding between individuals of all nations, races, creeds and colors, to promote freedom of the press and serve as a forum for various viewpoints, and to maintain an independent funding base.
